About To Kill a Mockingbird

I loved this book and we could guess the mockingbirds in this book. I thought that Boo and Scout and Tom were mockingbirds. They were innocent and they did not hurt other people but they were powerless. There were many people who attacked them like white people and their neighberhood. Especially, Tom killed himself because white people did not trust him and Scout was attacked by Mr. Ewell but Boo helped her. Thus, there are many people who need protections but we ignored them. Now I  think that we need to watch around us to find people like mockingbirds to help them.

Ch 23-24

In these chapters, I could see that most white people's thoughts because Scout's aunt Alexandra hated Calpurnia. She helped Atticus to clean the house and take care about the kids. However, she was black woman and Alexandra was white woman. I thought that Alexandra was same as other white people. She thought that white people were better than black people. However, it was wrong. I think that we are the same even we had different colors.

Ch 17-20

In these chapters, Atticus asked some questions to Mr. Ewell, Mayella and Tom in the court room. I could not forget Tom's words because he said that he felt sorry for Mayella. Mayella was poor because her family was poor and she did not have friends. She was lonely but her father was not good person so she wanted Tom. However, she was scared about his father so she had to lie to people. Tom was poor, too because he tried to tell the truth but people did not believe him. He was a black man so people did not trust him. I thought that they were the mockingbirds becasue they were powerless people.

Ch 5-7

In these chapters, Boo tried to make a friend with Jem and Scout, so he put two chewing gum in the hole of oak tree. Then Jem and Scout found gum and they got more things from Boo. However, one day, Mr.Radley tried to put some cement in the hole because he knew that his son tried to put something in the hole. Mr. Radley did not want to let his son makes a friend and plays outside because his emotion has some problems. Then Mr. Radley did not want to show his son to other people. It was sad because Boo was Mr. Radley's son but he was embrassed about his son. Also, he did not let his son to make a friend.

Ch 1-2

I didn't read a book 'To Kill A Mockingbird' but I heard its story. The white people hated black people that age and one black man had to punishment because white people did wrong. However, the black man had no power and the lawyer tried to help him. In chapter 1 and 2 I could see some diversities for black people, so they said that they could not pay back and they was hit by white people. They were poor because of skin color they could not live well. I heard that the white lawyer tried to help black people and I am not sure yet but I hope that the lawyer would win.

Ch 21

This chapter was last chapter, and I was so sad when I finished the book. Because of adult's faults, the children had to suffer from the wars. The adult were so selfish and bad. They thought only themselves. Especially the rebels were terrible. They caught the boys to use them to kill people, and they gave some drugs to the boys. It was so cruel. Then the boys had to suffer from the horrible experience, so they lost them selves. Also, they could not sleep well. These days, we have many problems and the reason is adult's fault. Besides, they still try to get their benefits. However, I hoped that the adult try to keep their children and to live well.

Ch 19-20

Beah found his family. He found his uncle because the UNISEF people helped him. Then his life was better than before. He did not have to kill people, find food, and escape from the rebels. One day he could go to the U.S. because the U.N. has a conference about wars and children's suffer. Then he went New York City, and he heared rab music. Before the war he practiced the rab music to take part in the talent show with his brother and friends. In the wars, Beah lost many things. At first, he lost his family and then he lost his friends. Finally he lost himself. He could not control himself because the wars made him angry and he suffered from the wars. However, he went to UNISEF center and he found his uncle. Finally I hoped that he would try to find his before life.

Ch 17-18

Beah was still in the UNISEF center. However, he still did not believe people easily. Also, the boys could not sleep well because of the fear of the wars and rebels. Even some boys went around at night because they were scared. Also, they took drugs before so that was the other reason that the boys could not sleep well. Especially, Beah changed, so he did not try to get closer with other people. I felt sorry for them. These boys had to make more friends and need various experiences. However, their situation was horrible. They had to learn how to take drugs and to use the weapons. Besides, they had to kill people. It was a horrible experience and they could not make friends in that situation.

The Choice book

I suggest The Phantom of the Opera. It is a classic book but it is kind of mystery book. Also, it had a movie so we can see the movie, too.

Ch 15-16

Beah was founded by UNISEF people. Also the other boys, whose was caught by rebels, was also founded by UNISEF people. Then, they went to safe place which had foods, clean cloths, and nice badrooms. However, Beah was scared because he couldn't believe people of UNISEF. When he was caught by rebels, he had a terrible experience. The rebels gave drugs to the boys and they tried to teach them how to use weapons and fight with people. Then they had to kill people and their mental systems had some problems. After that, they had to keep themselves, so they started to do not believe people at first. It is horrible. The boys got terrible experiences and they suffered from those. Even though they found some people who could help them, they couldn't believe them. The children had to suffer from the war because of adult's fault.

Ch 13-14

In this chapter, Beah totally changed because of the rebels. He was caught by the rebels and he took some drugs. And then he started to kill people with the rebels. However, I understood him because he was just a boy. He could not do anything and he had to follow them to survive. Besides, he got many stress from the trip and he was angry about the country, so he could not control his emotion. He was so young to control his own emotion. Also, there was no one who taught him about controlling his emotion because he lost his family. Therefore, I thought that it would be okay because that time was hard to go correct way.

Ch 11-12

I was angry in this chapter because the rebels caught the little boys and they were training the boys and they gave drugs to the boys to put them in the wars. Then the boys had to kill people with weapons. It is scare to kill someone. However, the rebels tried to make the boys to kill their family and friends. Also, the boys had to take drugs, so they could not get healthy body and mental. Beah could not sleep because of scaring. Also, he was angry because anyone could not help him to get out and to meet his family. It was so sad and I felt sorry for the boys. The war and the adults made the boy's angry and scaring.

Ch 10

Now Beah started his trip with his friends. However, it was hard to survive because they were still in danger. Also, they missed their family and cities. They were just boys, so they had to go school and they had to play with their friends. However, they had to run away from the rebels to survive. It was so sad because they had to experience the war. They had to see dead people and destroyed places. Then they got horrible memories from there. If I saw some dead body in the war, then I could not live because of scarring. Besides they lost their family, they had to do everything by themselves. Untill now, they did well and I hoped that they meet their family safely.

Ch 8-9

Beah had to keep going to find safe place. However, it was hard to go because he was alone. Also, he had to walk 2 days without sleeping and he could not eat anything. I could understand him little bit because I went to the U.S. alone without my family. However, I could eat, sleep and go to school. Also, I had a host family, so I could not feel alone anymore. However, Beah was alone and there was nothing with him, so it was really hard. Finally, he found new place and he met his friends of his school. And then he could stay with them and he could go to other place with them, so he could not feel alone. Especially, I felt that family is so important. They were always with me, so sometimes I forgot about them. However, they are really important people to me and I am thanks to my family again.

Ch 6-7

Beah and his friends escaped from the rebels, but they were not safe. Then they met people who knew about their family, so they tried to find them. Finally they found them and they stayed with them. They had to help them, so they had to work. It was hard but they were okay because they could eat something. However, they were founded by the rebels, so they had to run out. Beah couldn't find his brother and friends and the hidden place burned. He had to go find other place alone. Then, he met one good man who told him about new hidden place, so he could go to the other place. When he was alone, he was scared because he could not sure when the rebels came to him. However, he was great because he was alone and a boy, but he tried to find anther way. Also, I was surprised because there were no people to try to help another people during the war. In the war, people changed to survive, so people were selfish. However, there was a man who tried to help Beah, so Beah could know where he had to go.

Ch 3-5

In these chapters, the children was caught by rebels, and they had to see many bad situations. However, they did not have power, so they could not do anythings. Even they had to see one boy was hurt by rebels, they could not do anythings for the boy. Then, they started to confuse the tense, if it was past, or present. Also, they could not eat anythings, so they tried to go to find some foods. And then, they was found by rebels, so that was why they had to be with rebels. The rebels started to kill people without no reason. They thought only themselves, it meant that they were selfish. They did war, but they killed army and people, too. Actually, they killed all men. It was sad, the family had to separate each other, and they had to starve and they had to escape everyday. It was not a person's life to them.

Benjamin Franklin

I read The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin which was written by Ben Franklin. He was born in 1706 in Boston. When he was young, he went to school to be a minister. However, he felt that he was interested in reading and writing. Then he started to work with his brother, but he fought with his brother and he moved to Philadelphia. In Philadelphia, he worked with Samuel Keimer about printing. During working, he also wrote some books. In addition, he was awarded honorary degrees from Harvard and Yale, and he became Postmaster General of America.

The Green Light

In the book The Great Gatsby, the author mentioned the word "green light" many times. It meant American dream, but we could see American dream's good parts and bad parts. For example, Gatsby was poor but he was rich later. However, he had not real friends. He got physical things like money, that would be a good part of American dream. In other hands, he never got good friends, that meant his mental part was poor. This one was example for bad part of American dream, so we could know that American dream did not succeed, Gatsby got his money, but he was not happy.

CH 9

In chapter 9, there was Gatsby's funeral, so Nick tried to contact with some people. At first he tried to find Gatsby's family, but he could not find. However, before funeral Gatsby's father came, because he saw his death in the newspaper. Also, Nick contacted with Daisy and Tom, but they already went another place without telling to Nick. Daisy killed Mrs. Wilson, so she could not come his funeral. And then, Nick called to Mr. Wolfsheim, but he said he could not come because of his business. However there was a man with owl-eyed glasses in the funeral. Nick did not know this man and he did not called to this man, but he came and he was really sad about Gatsby's death. In here we could see that when Gatsby lived, people tried to close to him. However they did not his funeral when he died.

Ch 8

In Chapter 8, Mr. Gatsby was murdered by Wilson. Wilson knew that the yellow car which hit Mrs. Wilson is Gatsby's. Then Wilson went to Gatsby, killed him, and he suicide. However, we could guess that Gatsby would die at the end, because we could see in chapter 1. In chapter 1, when Nick started the story, he said about Gatsby and 'Gatsby turned out all right at the end; it is what preyed on Gatsby, what foul dust floated in the wake of his dreams that temporarily closed out my interest in the abortive sorrows and short-winded elations of men' so we could guess.
